Kupwara  district  is  located between Pirpanchal and Shamsbari mountain ranges surrounded by snow clad mountains and dense green forests. These mountain ranges have many  meadows and pastures in their bosom which provide grazing grounds for cattle and sheep and health resorts and tourist spots for the adventurous souls.
Lolab Valley, dubbed as the fruit bowl of Jammu and Kashmir, is a charming and viridescent terrain in Kupwara District. The valley, 26 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide, is dotted with green rice fields, fruit orchards and beautiful meadows.
Lolab is located north-east of Srinagar. Best time to visit the valley is before July or after August.
Its enchanting beauty had influenced the poetic imagination of many. Special mention about this place can be found in the works of the well-known poets like Dr Allama Iqbal and Fazil.
Someone who relishes the solace of unspoilt nature will find himself at home here.
Lolab is renowned for the most exotic fruits of Kashmir. Ideal campsites can be found all along the way from Patalnag, Kambrial, and Magmarg to Drass. The Lavnag spring at Anderbug and the ancient cave located in the jungles of Madmadow, which is believed to lead to Russia are places of tourist interest in the vicinity. Well laid out routes along the valley comes handy for the trekkers.
Our album LOC - Machil looks at life, environment people and children in this pristine forgotten part of the kashmir Valley
