Ignoring Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal regions raises questions over Delhi’s intention: Mehbooba on Ladakh order

Taking to Twitter, Mehbooba said it seems J&K governor Satya Pal Malik is peddling Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda by ignoring other deserving regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Welcoming the creation of Ladakh as third administrative division of the state, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said the ignoring of regions like Chenab valley and Pir Panjal raises doubts of New Delhi’s intention.

Taking to Twitter, Mehbooba said it seems J&K governor Satya Pal Malik is peddling Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda by ignoring other deserving regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Creation of a separate administrative division for Leh  is a welcome step. However  ignoring Pir Panchal & Chenab valley  raises questions about the Centre’s intention. Seems like Guv sb is peddling BJPs agenda by ignoring other equally deserving regions,” Mehbooba tweeted.

Earlier, ex-CM of J&K and the National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah  promised division status for Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal regions if his party was voted to power in upcoming elections.

The state government has approved creation of a separate Administrative/ Revenue Division for Ladakh. This division will comprise Leh and Kargil Districts with its headquarters at Leh, said an official handout on Friday.

Reacting to the decision of Jammu and Kashmir government to grant division status to Ladakh, former MLA and AIP President Er.

Chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday demanded the opening of traditional routes to facilitate travel and supplies of essentials in Jammu and Kashmir.
