Inclement weather: Departments put on alert to ensure hassle free services

For timely and immediate snow clearance, the district administration has kept machines positioned at all “vital spots” which will be pressed into service in case of snowfall.

Amid inclement weather forecast, authorities in summer capital Srinagar have put manpower in different departments on alert to ensure uninterrupted supply of services, officials said.

Disruption in power and water supply are common complaints against authorities concerned during snowfall. A senior official said administration has directed all departments concerned to be in a state of preparedness and ensure timely response to any situation that may arise owing to change in weather.

The official 23 snow-ploughs and 22 JCBs have been kept ready to meet any situation while over 4000 personnel have been put on alert.

“Two skid-steers are also ready for snow-clearance on main roads and pedestrian lanes across Srinagar city,” the official informed.

Chief sanitation officer Srinagar Municipal Corporation said all 80 dewatering stations and 115 mobile pumping stations were operational and that all personnel concerned have been asked to ensure hassle free supply of services. SMC has also established a control room, which as per officials, will function under supervision of SMC commissioner.

 

 

The culture wing of department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today organized a na’atiya mushaira titled ‘Tajdar-e- Madina’ in collaboration with a cultural organization Nundreshi Karwan-e-Adab, Chrari Sharief, here at its auditorium.
